
Providing Compassionate Care for Laboring Parents
EDLSV Scope:

The volunteer role is supportive and entirely non-clinical, resembling that of a knowledgeable family member.

Emotional support, fostering a calm and peaceful environment.

Promotion of physical comfort using non-pharmacologic means.

Making suggestions to promote labor progress (approved by the patient’s primary RN).

Assisting the patient in understanding procedures through simple clarifications or helping them ask questions.

Unplugging and plugging in monitors when assisting the patient to the bathroom.

Breastfeeding assistance (if the volunteer has adequate training).

Doula activities are limited to ensure a safe and supportive environment.

If you are interested in applying to the EDLSV program, send us an email (EDLSVolunteers@gmail.com) so we can add you to our contact list for our next recruitment cycle. We currently recruit volunteers two times a year (beginning of spring and fall semesters).
No previous experience is necessary to apply, but please keep in mind that we require a minimum commitment of two shifts per month for 6 months from all volunteers.
